A permanent home for Newham’s LGBTQ+ history. A living archive that grows with our community. This is your invitation to be part of it.
We Want to Hear From You
Were you part of Newham’s LGBTQ+ community? Do you have memories of the pubs, community centres, activism, housing coop or everyday life? Whether your connection to Newham was decades ago or continues today, your story matters.
We’re especially interested in hearing from people who remember:
- LGBTQ+ venues and social spaces
- Community organisations and support groups
- Activism and campaigning
- The impact of the AIDS crisis
- Everyday life — friendships, relationships, struggles, joys
You don’t need to have done anything “important.” The everyday is historical. Your memories are heritage.
We’re Flexible
- Interviews can be filmed or audio-only
- You can use your real name or remain anonymous
- We can come to you, or you can come to our studio
- You decide what to share and what to keep private
- You can review everything before it’s made public

Know Someone?
We’re especially trying to reach people who might not be connected to the usual LGBTQ+ networks. If you know someone – a colleague, family member, neighbour, or friend – who has stories from Newham’s queer history, please pass on our details or connect us.
Newham is one of the most diverse boroughs in the country. We want our archive to reflect that – all communities, all backgrounds, all experiences.
