Share Your Story
Do you have a story to tell? Or know someone who does?
For those who lived quietly, and those who lived out loud.
This archive is built from what people remember, and what they kept. If you have a story, a photograph, a flyer, a name, a night you’ll never forget – we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t need anything polished. A memory is enough. So is a shoebox of photos, a single postcard, or an afternoon to sit and talk.
Everything you share is treated with care. Nothing goes into the public archive without your clear say-so – you decide what stays private and what’s shared.
Lend a hand
We’re also looking for volunteers – people to help record, transcribe, research, and walk alongside us as the archive grows. Whatever your age or experience, if that sounds like you, say hello.
Pass it on
We’re especially trying to reach people who aren’t connected to the usual LGBTQ+ networks – whose stories rarely make it into an archive.
If you know someone – a colleague, a family member, a neighbour, a friend – who carries a piece of Newham’s queer history, please pass on our details, or put us in touch.
Newham is one of the most diverse boroughs in the country. We want this archive to reflect that: all communities, all backgrounds, all experiences.
